Trees for Learning

This initiative ran from 2017 to 2020 and was part of the DEFRA backed project to plant 1 million trees with primary schools across the UK by 2020.

Community Forest Trust organisations including The Mersey Forest, City of Trees and White Rose Forest planted thousands of trees across the UK, engaging with hundreds of schools. As part of the programme, CFT organisations promoted the opportunity to not only plant but learn about trees as part of the national curriculum and outdoor learning.

Alongside design advice, and tree planting support plans were also put in place for the long-term management of the trees and woods.
